Rejuvenator/Sealer
DID YOU KNOW…
- All asphalt maintenance products are temperature
sensitive and should be applied only when temperatures are 50 degrees and
getting warmer.
- Although the air temperature may be in the 50's,
the ground temperature can be significantly cooler and can affect product
application and performance.
- The "freeze and thaw" cycle over the winter months
can damage asphalt pavement. Only temporary repairs can be made at this
time.
- Permanent repairs should be postponed until the
freeze and thaw cycle is over and temperatures are warming up.
- Most blacktop plants close down in the winter months
of November or December and reopen around mid-March if it is warm enough.
- Only cold patch material is produced during winter
months. Repairs completed with this product are temporary and will reopen
- Rejuvenator/sealer and emulsion manufacturers stop
making material over the winter months. Also, water-based latex traffic
paint is not produced during the winter.
- The best time of year to perform asphalt maintenance
work is when the temperatures are warm to hot like the months of May, June,
July, August and September.
- Work to be performed in the start up months of March
and April and the ending months of October and November must be chosen and
scheduled carefully.
- You don't save money by waiting until the end of
the season. Scheduling your project in the earlier part of the season is
the best alternative. By September most reputable contractors are booked
for the rest of the season. You can end up paying more at a premium time
and risk not having enough time or good weather to complete your project.
